Join us on Sunday for a revival reading of Dale Wolf's one person show: a mix of stand-up comedy, mime, song, slide show, therapy session and pride rally. The show is a personal narrative work following the path from a confused childhood through moments of self-realization as an adult, to the threshold of public declaration and celebration of her lesbian identity. The piece debuted in April 1992 in Chapel Hill, NC. Reviewers then called In the OUTfield, "a magical tale...funny, sad, frightening, joyful and uniquely honest.” "Wolf is a virtuoso performer with a commanding assured presence, comic and supremely humane."

History of the show: Since the show’s debut, Dale has toured In the OUTfield, performing at theater festivals, conferences and Gay Pride Celebrations. She produced the show for participants attending the National Lesbian and Gay Task Force, Creating Change Conference in November 1993. She was invited to Louisville, Kentucky for a week residency, teaching and advocating for gay and lesbian youth on the campus of the University of Louisville. The show was so well received there it became clear that In the OUTfield had the potential to transcend difference and effect change in those willing to listen. One of the most powerful performances took place right here in the Triangle. In October 1994, the Gay Straight Alliance of Chapel Hill High School, the only organization of its kind in the state at the time, organized Opening Doors: a conference on Understanding Issues of Sexual Orientation on the High School Campus. Excerpts from the work were the keynote at Women’s Works Women’s Words, a conference sponsored by the Duke University Women’s Center. Dale was invited to perform at the Women’s Theater Festival in Philadelphia, Pa, at the Asheville Poetry and Performance Project in Asheville, NC and the Atlanta Gay and Lesbian Arts Festival. She performed In the OUTfield in the Triangle as part of the National Youth Advocacy Coalition’s Southeast Regional Conference at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, and then in 2002 as a part of Manbites Dog Theater's Queer Theater Festival.
