Anthony Harrison Album Release Show
Anthony Harrison is a guitarist and bass player, hailing from Greensboro and based in Durham, bringing a unique Piedmont sound that blends the spirit of suburban garages, downtown bars and late-night porch jams together in a twangy, groovy swirl.
Formerly of Greensboro-based garage bands Starlyn Garvy and the Animal Mothers, Anthony Harrison now pushes the bounds of "three chords and the truth," informed by outlaw country, British rock, early punk and electric blues.
His first solo EP, The Second Room Demos, explores universal themes of isolation and rejection, but keeps from getting too sappy with damn-catchy melodies, bittersweet lyrics and an edge of resilience through it all.
At his Feb. 20 demo release show at Mettlesome's Okay Alright Theater in Durham — fittingly, a literal garage — Anthony will be joined by local favorites Charles Cleaver on bass, Tristan Yonce on drums and Brandon Adams on guitar. Beloved Greensboro vocalist Johanna Breed will open the night with her signature future-soul jams.
